"A fiery Soprano" - Opera News

The "fiery" American soprano, (Opera News) is a "rapturous singing actress" (New York Times) with an uncommon versatility encompassing Bel Canto, Verismo and operetta. Hallie received glowing reviews for her performance of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni for the Mozart Festival Opera U. S. tour. At the historic Hippodrome Theatre (3000 seats) in Baltimore, Maryland the Baltimore Sun noted “The most satisfying vocalism came from Hallie Neill, who had lots of color and bite.”

Miss Neill has created leading roles in two world premieres: Anton Coppola’s Sacco and Vanzetti for Opera Tampa and Philip Glass’s La Belle et la Bete(“an actress of authority and integrity” –The New York Times) in performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Netherlands Opera, and theatres throughout Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. She can be heard on the original cast recording for Nonesuch Records.

Hallie made her Carnegie Hall debut as Isaure in the New York premiere of Verdi’s Jerusalem with New York Grand Opera. Highlights of recent seasons include Anna in Le Villi for the Puccini Festival in Central Park; Alice Ford in Falstaff for the New York Grand Opera Verdi Festival in Central Park, (with Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in his stage debut as a page!) She has also sung the roles of Violetta in La Traviata, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, the Widow in The Merry Widow, Mimi and Musetta in LaBoheme, Micaela in Carmen, and the leading role in Tosca, with Cairo Opera, Teatro Lirico d’Europa, Opera 2001 (Spain), Anchorage Opera, Treasure Coast Opera, New York Grand Opera, Metro Lyric Opera of New Jersey, Gold Coast Opera, Pensacola Opera, Fairbanks Opera, Long Beach Light Opera and the Paper Mill Playhouse.

She has appeared in opera and Broadway concerts throughout the United States with Columbia Concerts, the Bermuda Symphony, Taiwan Symphony, Cairo Symphony, Little Orchestra Society at Lincoln Center, for the Anchorage Concert Association and throughout Spain with the Bel Canto Quartet of New York. She also appeared throughout Asia and the Middle East with the Ambassadors of Opera.

Hallie is currently appearing throughout the country in her original scripted operetta “A Scandalous Affair” about the secret love story of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy with her husband, Metropolitan Opera baritone Theodore Lambrinos.(www.jeanetteandnelson.com)
